EricM, Chick, blue cats, 4-24-09, 8up
#1
8up had been coming down to fish with WLG tomorrow and got me to take him out today by bribing me with a bunch or those Cumberland skipjack. I had warned him that the Chick catting was going to be rather poor with the low water flows, but he didn't care.

We got to Skull Island ramp, and if someone hadn't parked kind of foolishly I wouldn't have had a spot to park, but I managed to back the trailer into a spot that there was no way you could pull into frontways. We sure need that economic recovery thing, 'cause there sure aren't many folks working on Fridays - they're all at the ramp, including cathooker, drumking, fishin fool and fishin fire!!!

We started off the day with 8up catching his big fish of the day, a 10 pound blue. I put on a nightcrawler and tried for channel cats - and of course caught a 35 pound blue on it! All total we caught 7 cats - the 35, the 10, a 9, and several under 9, uhh, actually, they were a LOT under 9 pounds emoDoh .

When I got home, Mrs. EricM thought that maybe I might just want to leave the boat out in the sun and wind for the rest of the afternoon (hint, hint). I guess yesterday's net full of fish slime and scales, coupled with drum drippings and old catfish slime and skipjack marinade, and topped with a nice thunderstorm on the way home yesterday, made a soup that she found less than appealing in the garage last night. Seems she left her window open in the car overnight and felt it was a bit of a problem this morning when she had to drive to Chattanooga. I didn't bother to tell her that I'm not all that good at peeing out of the boat any more either. emoEek She, ahhh, seemed to have enough on her mind at the time.
