Called to reserve an early start for Saturday and got an extra battery for the trolling motor, just in case.
Good to talk to the boat guys, very helpful for fishing info and good helpers with the gear.
We left at 7:30 local and ended up there about 1 hr and 20 min later. If you do not request a boat for an early start, you have to wait until 8:00AM central time for them to open.
Beautiful drive and amazing to see the trees and bushes and grasses etc.. are about 2-3 weeks behind us in the spring pattern.
It had been cold, but the warm-up we had Friday and Saturday helped the bite.
At one point I had 4 fish on my watch and within an hour they were hitting good.
My bride smoked me as she continually caught fish as I tried all the different colors we had gotten the night before.
After 2 hours of guiding her to the fish, I hit on a color and started to add to the list. That was good because she invited me to reel one of her's in. emoGoofy
Yes, she kept a list with great detail and we ended up with about 25 fish.
She started with an almost 1 and 3/4 lb red ear.
Then she made me take a pic of her pretty little bass.
OK I did and you can see them.
emoSmile
BG 2" bleeding shad dipped was the best.
We had a ball!
She picked up on "the system" very well! emoThumbsup All on ultralight 4# and 1/32
When we got home she had to complain about being sore in her shoulder from catching so many fish.
I love to take my wife fishing emoHeart
BTW the story is that some people illegally introduced crappie in the lake years ago, and we didn't catch a single one emoConfused
