Scofield and Electric Quicky
#1
Had some time to burn this afternoon so headed up the mountain to go fishing. Went over to Scofield first. It was pretty slow for me. I used egg sacks and minnows on one pole and threw lures with the other. Only caught one nice 18" tiger on a minnow. Saw several smaller fish try for my lures, but they didn't quite hit the lure. As I was driving to Scofield I saw a small bit of open water at Electric by the inlet so I figured I'd give that a try on the way home. I fished there for around an hour and a half and caught around 10 fish and lost three or four more. I caught one on a rapala and the rest using minnows. The three biggest I caught were males all around 18" or 19" inches. There is a bigger chunk of open water about a half mile down the lake where there are some springs that feed into the lake, but you'd probably want a snowmobile or at least snow shoes to make it down to it. Sorry no pictures. I need to get in the habit of taking it with me when I go fishing. It was great to get out and hit the soft water today!

Thanks for the report! So is Scofield ice free now. Can I get my boat on? Thanks, Fred K.

It isn't completely ice free yet. Probably 60% ice free as of yesterday. The west half is completely ice free. I did see one boat on the water on the north side of the lake near Madsen Bay. As long as we don't get another cold snap the rest of the ice should be gone by the end of the week.
