on sunday I got the itch, so I drove to East Canyon. I have not been there for years but i wanted a nice tiger. What I got was better. I was throwing a Rapala from shore and bam. [inline "big bass..bmp"]

Which by the way, how common is it to catch a fish like this from shore? This was by far the biggest bass I have ever caught, I am wondering, if I were to go up there and target them if I would catch more like this or was this a total fluke??? Also, if someone could tell me, In the bass world, is this considered a nice fish?

That is an awesome small mouth. I don't fish East Canyon much, but I don't think it is known for its great bass fishing. I think a better option for small mouth would be Jordanelle. There are many small mouth that size in Jordanelle.
Again, I don't know much about East Canyon. This is just my opinion.

East Canyon is chuck full of monster smallies. You did well by using a red rapala. That's a typical EC smallmouth at the right time of the year.
Catch & Release.
