My buddy invited me out to fish Vernon Reservoir and I have not been out there in 10+ years. I was thinking about taking my canoe with electric motor, is the reservoir big enough to make it worth taking?
Has anyone been out there recently? Is it any good these days. I think that they drained last year, but I have not heard if is any good. I will take any suggestions or information on this lake.

They did drain it last year. I have only fished it once, just prior to the draining to help clear out some of the fish. IMO it isn't really big enough to make a canoe too worth it. But if it isn't too much of a PIA do it anyway. Most fishing can be easily accessed by shore. I don't think that you'll have problems getting into the fish as I'm sure it has been stocked recently.
Good luck.

I was there yesterday, not fishin. I talked to a few groups. One oldtimer was diapointed. "not like it was 10 years ago". you can catch fish but no trophies. Pretty littel spot though.

I wouldn't be surprised at all that the fishing is lousy right now at Vernon. Last year they drained the lake. I would suspect that alone wiped out most the fish that weren't caught beforehand.
The DWR stocking report shows that this year only 152 browns and 1430 rainbows were stocked on May 18. For a water that size that isn't really that many fish.
Over time and with additional stocking it should improve as the fish base gets reestablished.
