Bluegill Spawn

How long with the bluegill be close in at Mantua spawning? I love catching them out in the deeper holes. they have more room to dive and fight.

A week ago I was catching bigger gills in less than a foot of water and they didn't put up much of a fight...

But today, I was catching them in some deeper pockets and you are right, I think they fight better when they have room to dive around and about. With that said though, I'm not sure if the weather (stormy / cloudy / cool) pushed them deeper or if they are finishing up spawning. Could be wrong but it seemed like less of them were full of eggs this trip around than last week... so perhaps they are finishing up the spawn.
