Was thinking in the next 2 weeks of hitting up sand hollow in Utah. Have any of you guys ever been there? and if so, Is it possible to do some decent bass fishing from shore there? or do I need a boat = / ??

Sand Hollow is a great spot! Yes, there is good fishing from shore. Th whole east side is a good area for shore fishing- lots of weeds and shallow water. My kayak buddy Alex just went last week, and he had great success tossing crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Just be careful out there. The dune sand is dangerous. I watched it claim a 4x4 Jeep Wrangler. Dont turn down any roads until you walk them to see if it is hard pack. The stuff that is hard though, you dont need 4x4 for.

The water is probably warm enough by now to wade out a couple feet deep. If you have waders it's better, there is supposed to be the 'swimmers itch' in the water but I've only heard of a couple cases, I myself would wear waders. Anywho, work tight to the shore line and work your way out. Focus on the groups of sage brush and throw a stickbait rigged weightless right in to it.
Just a tip, cast parallel to the shore and with each cast fan out more to the open water. You don't want your first cast to be straight out and far in to the water. You will spook the fish that are closer to the shore line if you get one.

My kayak buddy Alex went up to Sand Hollow this morning at about 3am. He will be coming back tomorrow night. When he gets back, I'll throw up a second-hand detailed report. That should give you a good idea of what to expect when you get up there. Sand Hollow is always fun in June though, so you shouldn't have any problems.

Talked to Alex, and he said that he was nailing them on crankbaits all day. He said it didn't matter what color either- he fished everything from ghost white baits to craw patterns, even fire-tiger was killing em. I like to throw big ass texas rigged worms out there all year. Seems to weed through some of the smaller dinks- Remember to mind your limits!
