how can i tell?

how do i tell if there are any cats in the 5 acre pond im fishing in? I just got permission to fish here about three weeks ago and been out there about 5 nights from 9-midnight no bites at all.[frown] i've tried liver ,nightcrawlers,hot dogs, fish, nothing works and i'm starting to wonder if there are none.The owner doesn't fish there so he wouldn't know and i'm one of 5 people that are allowed in there.

I would say to set out a trot line in different spots around the pond, with the same baits mentioned and maybe some dead or alive bluegills (If that's legal in your state) or other small fish cats eat. Check them while your fishing your spot and maybe even leave them out all night. This is how we used to prospect unknown ponds and lakes in AR to find the best spots.
