Cabelas Mwc Central Division Wraps Up On The Bay Of Green Bay
#1
Minnetonka, Minnesota- The Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) returns to the Bay of Green Bay out of the twin cities of Marinette, Wisconsin and Menominee, Michigan, July 11 and 12. This is the third time in five years the MWC has held a tournament in this area. Last year it took over 52 pounds to win this tournament, which is predicted to be in the running for the winning two day basket again this year. "I think you will see a five pound average," shared Don Frederick (part of the current Team of the Year and third place finishers at last year's event). "The bite was really good about a week ago before a cold front and northwest winds settled over the area and slowed everything down. Once the cold front moves out and it begins to warm up again, the fish will be more active and you will see some nice baskets on stage."

Tournament weigh-ins are free to attend and will run from 3:45pm - 5:30pm at Memorial Park in Menominee, MI on both Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th. Stop by and cheer your favorite team on as they weigh-in each afternoon. Teams will take off from the Memorial Park Marina at 7:00am and are able to fish the majority of the Bay of Green Bay.

Anglers fish in two person teams and are allowed to weigh a limit of 5 fish per team per day. The team that weighs in the most pounds of fish over the two day event wins the tournament and the first place prize money of $14,500. Currently there are 77 teams registered to fish in the tournament with a total payout of $49,280, which will be distributed to the top 15 places; plus another $2,400 in sponsor contingency bonus money.

The sponsor contingency bonuses are:

"¢ Ranger Cup Bonus: $1,000 to the top finishing team who fishes out of a Ranger Boat and is signed up for Ranger Cup.
"¢ Mercury Motors / Ranger Cup Bonus: $500 to the top finishing team whose boat is powered by a Mercury Motor and is part of the Ranger Cup program.
"¢ Lowrance HDS Bonus: $500 to the top finishing team who uses a Lowrance HDS (High Definition System) sonar/chartplotter display unit during the tournament.
"¢ Oxygenator Bonus: $200 to the top finishing team who uses a Pro Livewell Flush Mount or Livewell Portable oxygenation system during the tournament.
"¢ Team FCIS Bonus: $100 to the top finishing angler on Team FCIS (Farm & City Insurance Services). To become qualified for Team FCIS, simply receive a quote from FCIS by calling 1-800-331-1520 or going online at: www.fcisinsurance.com/anglers-choice.asp
Central Division Team of the Year winners will be crowned at this event. The winners will earn an extra $3,159 and will advance to the 2010 Championship along with the top finishing eight teams in the division standings. Currently the top eight places fall in this order:

1. Maury Schmerbach of Dubuque, IA & Marty Berns of Dubuque, IA - 157 pts
2. William Sutton Lindenhurst, IL & Bill Vojak of Antioch, IL - 137 pts
The Marinette-Menominee Great Lakes Sport Fishermen (MMGLSF) and the Marinette-Menominee Chamber of Commerce are co-hosts of the tournament. They will be assisting with tournament operations including inspecting and launching boats in the early mornings and helping with the weigh-ins in the afternoon. John Krueger of the MMGLSF shared this about having the MWC back this year, "We are glad to welcome the MWC anglers back to town. It's always a treat to help run and organize this tournament and the economic impact to the community is tremendous. The anglers appreciate the support we provide and all of us enjoy seeing the fish they bring up on stage. The fishing has slowed some recently but MWC anglers have had remarkable success in bringing in big baskets of fish even if the bite is tough."

Each MWC entry fee includes a $15 donation to the local walleye conservation fund. This money is given to the community or walleye club to use towards fishery enhancement projects. The MMGLSF will receive the money from this tournament to use towards enhancing the fishing on the Bay of Green Bay and its tributaries. Throughout the last 25 years, the Masters Walleye Circuit has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local communities to help improve their fisheries.

Cabela's, the world's foremost outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is entering their eighth season as title sponsor of the MWC. Official sponsors include: Ranger Boats, Mercury, MotorGuide, Lowrance, Versus (Vs.) Television Network and North American Fishing Club. Associate Sponsors include: Farm & City Insurance Services, O2 Marine Technologies, 3-IN-ONE No Rust Shield, Fin-tech, Ryjus and Reflections.
