Starvation, a small secret stream and my dare devil dog
#1
Fished starvation a couple days ago and did fairly well considering all the pressure that has been put on that lake in the past month. I diddnt catch any big ones but all were perfect table fish. Bottom bouncing has not been producing for me and I have been jigging more than anything. Using yellow & green 1/4 oz jig heads and a pumpkin seed power grub or maniac minnows. Fish seem scattered but they are bunched up in a few of my usual spots. Fished till about noon and had caught about 12 walleye between 2 of us. Even got a double header. The strong winds blew us off around 12:30 and we were out of there. Shane my buddy who has never caught a walleye before said that it was a blast and is already asking me when our next starvation fishing day will be. I am thinking Sun. He did very well for his first time on the walleye.

I also hit a river that I wont report where due to pressure but I thought someone might like to see the very nice cutbow that I caught on a stimulator. There were many fish caught that day but this one was the best for me. The only thing I will say is it is in the uintas. Mostly caught small brookies but this was a real treat. It is also still swimming for me to catch another day.

The videos are of my male GWP fetching a stick that I was throwing into the duchesne river diversion canal. I would say he is getting at least 25 feet of air jumping from about a 10 foot cliff. It was the funniest thing to see him going big like a stud.

Nice work. You're the fishingest fool I know. I'm retired and I can't get away as much as you do. Lucky devil!

Dont worry PEZ we will be slayin them in no time!!!!

Every once in a while I have to remind myself that I have a sickness that makes me impulsively go fishing no matter what tackle or what species. It is my way of life.

I also have to remind myself to be thankful that I have a job that allows my addiction to fishing to be diverse and fish for many different species on many different waters in many different ways. I cant get enough of it.

LET ME KNOW WHERE AND WHEN!!!![fishon]

I went out today and did very well. I caught 10 walleye,1 big nasty chub, 1 smallmouth and my first Starvation brown. It was about 23 inches long and I would guess about 4 pounds. What a fun fish to catch on accident. SOrry no pics I left my camera behind. Most walleye were caught on bottom bouncers and a yellow blade. I also caught fish on just a jig head and a half a nightcrawler. Fished from about 10 till 3 and got a nice sunburn. Watch out for all the idiots that are already out there.

Thanks for the info and I know all to well about the idiots.I will be staying next week for another 5 dayer.Weekdays are a lot smoother. We have found that a longer leader seems to catch a little bigger fish. Some premade harness comes with about 2 ft leader but we are catching bigger fish on leader about 4 ft.[fishin]

O.K. I have a question, but it really isn't related to fishing. Are your wirehairs AKC ? Drat or Treberwolf? My little female AKC (Spike) is in heat and I have been looking for a good male. Probably won't breed her until she goes into heat next spring, but I need to decide what male I want to be her boyfriend.[Wink]

Nice reports, I love fishing starvation but it is such a long haul to get there.
Thanks a bunch for picking up that trash, nothing worse that being outdoors and seeing litter.

sorry I have not responded to this question I have been out @ Starvation and working going a hundred miles an hour. Anyways, they are un-breedable dogs. I had them fixed for the reason that they are littler mates and I dont want any 5 legged dogs running around. They have tried believe me. As far as breed they are not registered or papered but have AWESOM lines. I dont think I would have wanted to get into breeding just yet anyways. They are the bnest dogs I have owned though, and I am sure my old black lab Tazz is rolling in his grave right now. That breed is just unbeatable for a multi species bird dog in my opinion. nice job on choosing wisely. If your interested in some drats that are HUGE studs check out Brian or John at the Pleasant Valley hunting preserve and dog kennels. They have great dogs that are tested and finished I am just not sure but they might have requirements on breeding as far as the bitch goes ya know.
