Got off to a later start than I had wanted to, but we got to Willard about 10:30. Had to hit the Flying J as the kids had left the worms at home on the counter when we were packing up the vehicles. Anyway, after that short detour we were good. Paid to get both vehicles in and then we drove looking for a spot. Momma and the girls wanted to hit the beach and the boy and I wanted to fish. We ended up at the north marina, even found the last empty pavillion and planted the food and gear there.
Momma took the girls over to the beach area and we started off fishing in the marina itself. Nothing much to report there, the boy had one on for a minute until it took him deep and got itself snagged up on something on the bottom. Soon it was lunch time so we pulled everything in and ate with the family. After lunch they went back to the beach and I took the boy further down the road to where the pavement ends at the marina. We fished on the outside of the marina on the west face of the dike. OK action for the typical cookie cutter cats. Enough for a dinner and it kept the boy entertained for awhile. Funny once we started pulling in a few we had a group of folks come over and park right on top of us. Made the boy a bit nervous (he doesn't like crossing lines) but we stuck it out. They never did manage anything and we pulled in a couple more after they arrived. It was time to head back soon, but all in all not a bad afternoon.
