Smith and Morehouse Tigers

I read on the stocking report that the DWR planted a bunch of tiger trout in this beautiful lake and decided to head up there with my kickboat. They are beautiful little fish. They aren't very big right now, but they will grow fast. The rainbows were very aggressive as well. I was using power bait and a green wolly bugger on my fly line. They were hitting both. I noticed that most of the fish were suspended at about 10 to 12 feet in the water. There were almost no fish deep in that lake.

My granddaughter caught her first fish and loved it. I stayed and fished till dark and had contant action. Many hits on the fly that did not hook up. Slow drifting power bait worked very well also. This is a great place to introduce kids to fishing. You should have some kind of action. What a beautiful lake and in a gorgeous setting. I have to go at least one more time this year.

Thanks for posting your report Chinook, sounds like a fun lake to fish. It has been years since I have been there but I also remember it being a nice little lake with a wooded camp ground near by. WH2

The campgrounds are very nice. There is a bunch of them below the dam and alot of camp sites above the lake. It is a great place to camp and take the Fam.

I was surprised how warm the water was, 70 degrees. Alot of people swimming there, but it didn't seem to bother the fish. There were hungry. You should get up there and try it. The stream holds good amounts of fish as well.
