The state is reporting that Little Camas is going to go dry this Summer, and they've lifted all fishing restrictions. That's only what? 30 - 40 minutes from Mountain Home?
Of course there's always the South Fork, Anderson, and my favorites, the Trinity Lakes area. Not terribly close, at about 2 hours, but the drive is worth it. Don't forget to view the spawning Kokanee in Trinity Creek (later August - September).

There are 4 lakes that you can drive to. Big Roaring, Little Roaring, Little Trinity, and Big Trinity. There are about 11 more hike-to lakes within a 5 mile radius.
The road from Featherville is good; I've taken our minivan up there many times. For someone in Boise like me, it's much shorter to drive through the town of Prairie to get there. That road intersects the Fall Creek road above Anderson Ranch and is very rough. You'll need a high-clearance vehicle.
Good luck!
