Some years back the gears in the foot of my 6 hp Evinrude got striped and the new parts were too much to make it worth while to repair. I finally found a used motor with a good foot and changed them tonight. All was fine until I when to install the prop, that is when I noticed the old prop was a three blade and the new one is a two blade. My question, for anyone that might know, which prop will be the best for slow trolling and which one will give me more top end speed? If looks like both props will fit.

Diameter and pitch being equivalently matched, a 2-blade is better for speed (less drag) and 3-blade is better for trolling (better grip). However, one or the other may be better for both trolling and top speed if its pitch is a better match for the elevation of the lake you are fishing.

Take both out with an extra nut and wrench and see which one performs best. I carry 2 props on my boat for my kicker and change them out depending what lake and type of trolling I'm doing

Thanks Guys, I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure. I put the three blade prop on and I'll try that first. I have all ready had the two blade prop on this motor before, just wasn't sure which blade would work the best for trolling. thanks again. WH2
