I'm glad that I fished alone today. I hadn't planned on fishing at all today, but when I finished my little project this morning, I decided to go out for an hour or so. I launched from Tyner Lane and ran upriver about 8 or 9 miles and fished a deep water point. I caught 11 crappie and kept 6 for supper. The fish were caught on a 1/16oz jighead with a BG shad. Pic below. The fish were about 15-18 feet deep. The six that I kept were 11.5 to 13+ inches long. No TARPs today. emoBig
After fishing that spot for a while, I thought about running back downriver and fished one of the bluffs that I like, but on the way back, I decided to fish the daymarker out from Harrison Bay. After battling a couple of crusier wakes, I made a couple of casts and heard thunder behind me. I looked and holy **&&%$$%##, Batman. It's coming and it's coming fast.
I had my little tracker in high gear and watching the approaching storm front and hoped that I could beat it to Tyner Lane. I almost made it. 20 yards from the ramp, the bottom dropped out of the sky and as I beached the boat, grabbed my raincoat I still got soaked before I could get the dang thing on.emoBang Sat in the truck for the 10 minutes that it took for the rain squall to pass, loaded the boat on the trailer and went home. Ate lunch and watched round 2 of the storm from my front window. emoBig
School starts tomorrow and I'm gonna see if I can get Wanda to go out with me for some crappie fishing. If not, then I may make a late call to someone else.emoBig emoGeezer
