I decided to get my wife and kids out on the water today to try to catch some spaaats. My boys are 6 and 7 years old and just getting into fishing a little bit so I was a little concerned with what to do to make sure they had a good time. i decided to rig them up with a couple of bandit 200 cranks in pearl/chartreuse and troll them down the breaks. They managed a few little spots but it didnt workout like I thought it would. The highlight was when Tyler caught a 4lb channel cat on his 4.5 foot rod with the crank. Needless to say Daddy had to help reel that one in. That was all done down around the browns ferry area. Since it was slow we rode back up to the riverpark and the water was rolling so I decided to drift fish a jig. Well Alex, my seven yr old decided he wanted to drag too so I let him have my other mossyback with a rootbeer baby brush hog and within a few minutes he had caught two nice spaaats and I had only caught a shell so I put a green pumpkin/candy lizard on and he still kept catching. We ended up getting into a mess of 2.5 - 3.5 lb smallmouths and it was a great time. Alex was enjoying rubbing in the fact that he smoked me

If I could get them interested enough to do this every weekend i might be fishing a lot fewer tournaments. Here are some pics. I hope they work.
