Been a long time since I fished a weekend, now I remember why. No I won't turn this into a skier, boarder and jet ski bashing. they enjoy their sport and we enjoy ours. some of us enjoy them all. I once heard Utah Lake was 13 miles wide and 22 miles long, why they have to do that within 50 yds of an anchored boat trying to keep tight lines and catch fish, is way beyond me. Today, not only was it the skiers, 2 men in a small fishing boat went between our boat and the weed line, over our lines, we were anchored not 25 yds from the weeds! Good and bad in all groups. I didn't say a word. gotta pick and choose your fights I guess. I just stood in amazement with my jaw dropped. Luckily, I have the other 5 days of the week.
To better things! a friend i have been sending all my pics of big cats the last 3 weeks, asked if i could take his kids.
It was on! picked them up and they started spanking the white bass. the 2 of them kept us busy casting and taking off fish for an eternity it seemed. I think they really enjoyed it.
Let me back up, my wife, my mom and I launched a little after 6:30. The wife's first fish was a fightin 28 inch, 7lb'er. her biggest yet. Then we went back to the dock and picked up the kids and friend. they didn't want to wake up early.
After the WB slaying, we moved in search of the cats. really slow. managed to boat 5 eaters and 3 bigger ones.
The Kids never set the hook on a cat, but my wife let them land 3-4 of hers.
Moved over by the bubble up and FINALLY got my Mom on a nice cat. 24inch, 7lbs. really carried his mass the length of his body.
Despite the inconsiderates, we ended up having a good day. we let the kids keep ~20 WB and all the eater cats.
I sent them home with a couple bags of fillets. got big hugs and thanks from them both. life really is good when you think about it, or when you quit thinking about it so much.
