I got out of work yesterday and decided I wanted to start the weekend off right and go fishing. So I asked the Ol' Lady if she wanted to go Drown some worms and lose some jigs; What do you know she said yes! I decided to go to CJ strike because of the full moon and figured I might as well try my luck there to break my losing streak and only catching about 14 fish. the last time I was there.
We got out to CJ Strike about 8:30 after a stop off at Cabelas. We get out there and there is one other guy out there and so we stop and drop some Jigs about 3 ft from the bottom. We get a couple of nibbles but no takers so I start doing the wandering and changing jigs and changing to crawlers and what not.
I rig up my 2nd rod (UL with 4lb on it) with a good ole hook and half a night crawler and a small split shot. Drop it down with the bail still open and getting about halfway to the bottom my line takes off down the front of the dam. Well what do you know I got one! Well, that was short lived when I got the line set and fought him for about 5 seconds and i guess he dove and I didnt have my Drag set yet and Bam there whatever it was went off into the moonlight with my nice new hook and crawler.
So i rig it up again at about 11:15 and try it again still un-eventfull so far lots of bites and no takers. So I rigged up a jig and sinker and casted way out there and reeled in slowly. Well what do you know about 3 ft from the top I get tagged so I left it there for a second and next thing you know I got my first fish.
I tell the Ol' Lady to try it she had one on in a matter of seconds. Well about an 2 hrs later we had our 5 gal bucket packed so full with 10-12 inch Crappie they were flopping all around so I emptied my cooler and started on that about 75 Crappie later I called it a night cause I didnt feel like cleaning more then that. Got home about 2:30 and didnt get done un-packing gear and cleaning fish till 5:30 this morning.
