I have a Rebel Teeny Pop R I've had forever still in the package. I guess I'll have to try it. Today I officially got bit by the bass bug. Around 7:30 this morning I started pitching a chartreuse and orange spinner bait and caught a small bass on my 5th or 6th cast. I switched over to bait to try and catch some gills but they just didn't want to cooperate for some reason. Around 9:00 I started fishing a texas rigged Zoom 6" watermelon seed lizard. Within 5 minutes I pulled out a 1 pounder. I'm pretty sure there was another nice one in there but my wife had finally caught a couple of small sunfish and decided it was time to go home. We had things to do.

I got to talking about the game warden today about the lack of cover for the bass in the back pond. He said its a good possibility that if I got a few people to volunteer and pickup some used christmas trees after christmas and strip em of the needles and trim some of the branches, They would let us throw em in the pond for cover. I think it would do wonders for the 3 lower ponds. Those poor bass are so sunbeaten and yellow =( I think it would also help the bluegill size up also.

I heard there was a big pile of wood in the back some where that is from all the trees around the park. We would use this wood for our fire pit on the those cold mornings. I wonder if that wood would work okay.

Let me know if we can help. Christmas trees are good for a year but there are alternatives these days. PVC structure works good but according to the strucutre put in down at Mohave the Bass seem to like wood pallets a lot more.
put some of these out in the middle

Thats what the ranger was saying.. He mentioned pallets and pvc structure. I will get in contact with the offices at the park and see if we can really get this done. Ill let you know what they say as soon as they respond.

Hey guys, new to fishing the vegas area. I wanted to check out FLSP, on a couple different websites, it said hours were either 8am or 9am, but I noticed a couple of you in this thread talking about getting out there much earlier, so are the gates just open? Is there a certain time it opens?
Also, google earth shows a few different ponds, is there a better one or all 3 about equal?
Thanks for any info!

there is four ponds. the biggest one, the first one you come too is stocked with channel catfish like once or twice a month in the summer and rainbow trout in the fall and winter and most people fish that one. the other ponds have self sustaining bass and blue gill. i usually get there at like 630 and its opened. nobody at the gate though.

So basically I havent heard anything back yet. So this week sometime I am going to the office to talk to these people and see who I need to get into contact with to get this done... I have received more than a few E-mails from people saying they want to help, so I am going to try my best to get some results.
