Coloring Bucktails
#1
Another project for this winter. I'd like to get a lot of different colors of bucktails since I live in Iowa and can tons of them during deer season this fall. Does anyone have any information on how to Dye these WhiteTails to different colors. Or where I get the products to do it. Make some walleye jigs for next spring and would like a variety of flourscent colors. Please help me out if you can.

Thanks and good luck on the water

Well, Winter is almost over and still know reply. I'm still trying to figure this bucktail thing out. I've got white down with bleach. Surely someone else is doing this out there. Does anyone use this site anymore or does anyone know of a better forum to get information.

Thanks,

Bob

Most of the fabric dyes, such as RIT, you can find in fabric stores and craft stores will work. I have dyed feathers and fur with these dyes with good results.

You might try posting this on the fly fishing board as a lot of fly tyers dye there own stuff. Rit dye and Kool aid are two that I know work for feathers. I am not sure on the fluorescent colors though.
