[#800000]RUBY LAKE NWR[/#800000]The 4th of July is generally when the bass fishing starts to pick up, so even though bass fishing is still slow, hang in there. Some bass are being caught from the dikes, but your best bet is from a boat. You need to get a fair ways from the landings to get to areas where the fishing pressure is lighter. The best time is right at dusk as the shadows from the mountains hit the water. Electric motors only on the refuge and gas motors must be completely removed from the boats. Plastic worms and lizards in dark colors seem to be the favorite. Trout fishing has been slow in the ditch, though some trout were taken from the deeper springheads by boaters. For more information call the refuge headquarters at (775) 779-2225
