Braved the cold and wet at Lake Lowell
#1
To catch this cooler full of fine catfish. I was fishing off the lower dam with liver. Got there around 3 PM before the rain started. Barely had the line in the water five minutes before the first pole had a bite. I had a double hookup going on for a few minutes, ended up losing both fish though.

Caught six, kept five, busted off one that looked to be about 8-10 pounds when he managed to cut the leader on the concrete steps. After that, I got down on my knees to lift them out of the water.

It's off of Riverside road near Caldwell. You can find a map and directions here:

There's a large gravel shoulder on the water side of the road that you can pull off onto. About every 100 feet or so there's a step that helps you get over the concrete median. These lead to a stairway that you can walk down to get to the water. The water is very low right now, so the stairs only go about halfway down, but there are wide concrete shelves that you can use as steps from there.

Supposed to be some 20+ pounders in there. I don't know if I'd eat them that big, but they would be fun to catch.

Thanks for the help! I might try to get over for a little late season kitty action. Ron
