Henrys Lake
#1
Got to Henrys Lake about 9:30 Friday night after having a flat tire on the freeway. I thought the forest service campgrounds were still open and was planing on staying at one close to the lake. Found out otherwise. Luckily Jareds Wild Rose answered their phone so we stayed there.
Lake temp is at 48 to 51 depending on where we were. Fishing was really slow Saturday morning didn't see any people catching fish, trolling or fly fishing. I tried my luck fly fishing, with some of the leech patterns that were suggested, I'm sure with more time I would have had some success. We started trolling by Wild Rose and had quite a few hits, but no takers, when we could keep our lures out of the weeds. We finally gave up at about 11:00, when the wind came up.
My wife and I went back out at 4:30 even though the wind was still blowing pretty good. We were trolling in about 6 feet of water along the North shore and looked around and there were three other fishermen with fish on, about that time my wife hooked one also. After about a 10 minute struggle she landed a hybrid that was 25" and weighed about 5 lbs. It was almost dark so we went in. It was snowing this morning and after it quit the wind was gusting out of the North, so we left for home.
It was a great trip, thanks to the posts on this site. My wife wants to go back, but I don't think we will have time this year. Thanks [Smile]

She was just happy to have caught that big of fish. I am sure that when we get around her friends I will hear about it then.
