Scofield usually ices over first (other than the Uintas). Usually near the end of November.

I took a few steps out on it last turkey day and came right back to the shore. Stupid to do by myself but the clear ice was so inviting. Most of the lake was still open water.

Isn't Utah Lake frozen yet? I know Willard is.
My bathtub was frozen this morning and I saw a giant polar bear running around my living room. Luckily the bright shiny lights above my apartment melted the ice so I could shower. Gotta love those aliens.[laugh] On a serious note I would not even care which lake in Utah will freeze first. [signature]

[cool]No it doesn't. Huntington or Cleveland usually does, and there's some lakes in the high Uintas that freeze before that... Scofield (most years) freezes a week or two after Huntington which generally has safe ice the 3rd or 4th week of November and Fairview lake usually has safe ice a week before that, but the bows are tiny in that lake so most people (except fuzzyfisher) don't bother with that one.

We was up looking at Huntington a few years back and was parked to look, the ice was so clear that at first we thought the lake was ice free....we walked out on it and could watch the fish swimming under us...The ice was 3 1/2" to 4" but it sure made your ---pucker....

I think I was with you on that trip. It did look ice free, and we saw some nice tigers cruising really shallow. [signature] |
