Ice season help!
#1
Ice fishing season is around the corner.

I am having nightmares about all my disorganized junk that just bounces around my ice sled. I am talking about the multiple fishing poles, heater, bait, jigs, chairs, ice tent, etc.

Given the "years of experience" on this site, are there any tried and true tips to solve my problem?

I have a jet sled and I was wondering if anyone has built a makeshift storage unit that keeps the clutter under control.

Any tips are GREATLY appreciated.

I like to use the smallest size "action packer". The lid stays on great and it holds all my tackle, bait, batteries, camera etc...i mount my fishfinder on top of it and can just set the lid down in my ice hut where i'd like it, then i have my fishfinder and a small bait tray. I like to scew this in place in the back of my jetsled. I then use a 2.5 gallon bucket for my lantern and propane, and for all the tasty perch too!
Sportsmans usually has some pretty sweet soft-sided rod cases. I have mine that is i'd say 38" long, if i fold my handle on my reels i can fit 5-6 rods in it (I fish several rods in idaho), and it is plastic lined just firm enough that it can take some minor abuse when things shift in the sled. The auger is always the most awkward but a power auger usually rides well with the motor on the action packer and the blades forward, mine 6" hand auger that i use 90% of the time rides on my ice hut with one bungee.
