Post Afghanistan Fishing Trip w/KOCHANUT
#1
So I made it home from Afghanistan on the 19th, had my baby boy on the 22nd and finally got a chance to get away and go fishing today. I decided since it was my next door neighbors B-Day, whom happens to be my brother, whom happens to be "kochanut" that I would invite him along on the trip, since he has the boat now (my old boat)!!! Anyhow, went up North to some old fishing grounds, fished the lake only for about an hour with no luck at all so we decided to hit the river. Long story short we both had great success in numbers just not quality. All our fish were 8-12 inches. Poor birthday boy didnt catch a fish until THE MASTER.....thats me by the way.....had caught 12, but either way we both ended up in the high 20's for the day if not the 30's!!!!!

Great to see both of you back together, that life is treating you well, and that you're getting out and smelling the roses (or fishes!). Thanks for all you've done, and hope you can now enjoy the rewards you both deserve.

Jim,
Yes, it feels great to be back. Kochanut (brother) keeps talking about getting out your way and hooking up on a "Big Mac" with you, so hopefully him and I can get a trip scheduled with you sometime next year!!!

I haven't been down there if a few weeks, but it should be good with midges, especially in the afternoons after the sun hits the water. Nymphs always work down there. Small stuff (for me!) this time of year. Sparsley-tied #18's. Little midges and mayflies in the slower water.

I may slip down there later this week, and I'll send you something if I do.

Good to see ya made it home. It helps comfort a stressed father who's son and son in law both landed there yesterday. Hopefully I'll be fishing with them again in a few months. And hopefully their better marines than they are fisherman!!

If you don't mind me asking those pics you posted that river looked beautiful. What river is that? Is it the Jordan River near the airport? Or that one stream near Wendover........[:p]
