fish cameras
#1
has anyone used any of the fish cameras
and were they any good???
i would like to us one so i can record jigging
and see which jigging method works best and post it for others to see that have never tried jigging before.

also i would love to see what the bottom looks like at my favorite spots at the berry and what they have in common because we allways do really well at those 4 or 5 spots and other places are hit and miss...
also see what jigs really get there attn...
and which color they can see best...

just a thought,

I have used cameras often in the past. They are fun to watch and very educational as well. However, you must handle them carefully. The last one I bought, got water in the lens and had to be replaced under warranty. The replacement after 3 - 4 uses the infared lighting (not sure how it is spelled.) went out. As long as the lake has fairly clear water they are great for ice fishing. Tried it at Yuba, could not see anything after going down 4'. I strongly reccomend a tri-pod with a rubber locking device to hold at specific depth and angle. Overall I love taking it ice fishing. You would be surprised as to what you see and what the fish actually do when the are near your bait.[Wink]

Not as much fun as being on the lake as he films it but should get you excited.

well the cameras are fun and you can see a lot more going on with your jig and how the fish react to it.. but it can be a big pain in the bumm and they eat's batteries and get your line tangled in the cord. hard to get them pointed in the right place and stay there and the big draw back with them is how cleer the water is. realy cleer water they work great like huntington Joe's Valley but lakes like yuba and utah lake they do not work very good at all.. and you can not use them in very deep water it get's to dark to see much of anything.. and for recording you need to get a dvr and softwere to edit your videos. well worth it tho.. if you would like to see how they work. in 2 or 3 weeks huntington will freeze up and i'll be up makeing some new videos.. your welcome to tag along.
