Decided to take advantage of Mother Nature and spend one last day on the water before winterizing my boat. Took my 17 yr. old daughter, son-in-law, and his father to Renegade. Started in what I think is Indian creek bay. (large bay just north of boat ramp.) There was a slight breeze blowing (damn cold too) found fish on the finder at 20' -25' decided to drift. My daughter & I were using tube jigs, mine white, hers black tipped with chub meat. In-laws using white single tail jigs tipped with the same. 5 minutes later my day was made when my daughter yells "I got one!"[
] 2 seconds after that, Jordan, (son-in-law) yells "me too"! Starting with a double, and I got one in about 5 minutes after that and jordan got his second right away, I thought this is gonna be a great day.
We made 3-4 drifts across the bay with jordan getting 1 each pass and his dad missing what few bites he had, we decided that the wind was winning and went in search of some areas that were more protected. Tried again at the south west shore of the bay before entering the narrows. Same depth fish on! 3-4 more in that area, Jordan and his dad only ones catching fish. All in the slot smallest of the day 17" biggest 21". With 1 hour left before leaving we headed in the narrows, found a protected cove and caught on 15" fat bow for dinner. That was the "good" part of the day. After taking advantage of Mother Nature, she decided to have a little payback. At the bottom of Daniels canyon just before the first traffic light in heber, We felt a tug, and saw sparks flying behind the boat. The trailer is a double axle, right rear tire, rim and all is GONE! right fornt tire was blown and rim destroyed, axle from missing tire destroyed! We were able to put the spare on the front axle, however, that only gave me 1" of clearance between the bad axle and the pavement. I was able to drive very slow into Heber and found a parking lot to put it in. Not able to find a towing company with a big enough trailer that night, left it there and called today. Boat and trailer now being towed as I type. Thats the bad. Waiting to see towing and repair bills, thats the UGLY![frown]
