I normally wouldn't say anything but what is the deal with the recent "string" of advertisements on BFT?
On such a family oriented site, the last thing I expected was to have close ups of a hot girls @$$ in a string bikini in different angles with another hot girl in a small bikini in another ad. If I can't even type the word @$$ without getting in trouble on here, how can BFT agree to actually advertise them all over their forums?
I feel like I have to be careful who is the room when I come to this site so they don't get the wrong ideas. I sure wouldn't want my young boys looking at this site.
There are enough unethical techniques on every other site reminding guys to look at pornography everywhere else on the web; did BFT really have to join the list?
Personally, it doesn't affect me too much but I think it has crossed the appropriateness/hypocritical line.
Anyone else feel this way?

Personally, I don't mind but i'm a bachelor. You're right about the fact that sex appeal is becoming the advertising medium of choice. If I had kids I wouldn't want them exposed to T and A either. However, that also means they shouldn't go to the beach at Jordanelle in the summer. Face it brother; it's inescapable and inevitable. I promise that the average sixth grader knows more about sex than the elderly of generations past. Even if they lead a completely sheltered existence, some perverted lib teacher will be teaching them to put a condom on a cucumber. Look at the positive side of things. At least they aren't showing men in bikinis... It is 2009 ya know.

Pornography? I don't think so but, ya, that gal in the green swimsuit bottom is worth lusting over! LOL!

I guess I am alone in my opinion. That is ok. Just frustrating that the "sex sales" maxim has penetrated (no pun intended) just about everything. I thought BFT was the family-oriented site and these advertisements are not so family oriented.
My wife made a comment and did a double take while I was on the BFT website, I wouldn't want young children seeing it and I wouldn't want a co-worker or client to get the wrong idea about what I was looking at.
I just find it hypocritical that the content of these posts are so closely watched and edited yet there is no problem posting close-ups of bikini clad women. I guess swearing is a bigger deal than sex.
Again, I am married to a beautiful woman who wears beautiful things for me at the beach and I grew up in SoCal so these ads aren't that big of deal to me personally. It is just frustrating to have sex everywhere throughout all aspects of media these days (anyone watch the family channel lately).
Back to fishing.

I'll take your side Jacksonman! I'm not a child who shouldn't be exposed to sex, but a twenty something bachelor who doesn't need encouragement to think about bikini bottoms. Even though they're used that way, women shouldn't be used as billboards to hock a product, they deserve more respect than to be reduced to sex symbols. Yes, it's everywhere around us and I have learned to deal with it but I wouldn't put up a poster of that in my house and I'd appreciate it not on my fishing site. Just my two cents

I feel the same way you do about it. It really sucks when you are trying to read reports at work and someone mis-interprets the site from the bikinis all over the page. I'm not a fan of making this a Swimsuit forum. If you want to go look at bikinis, there are plenty of other sites out there. We need to keep this site clean.

Thank you guys. I was starting to re-evaluate my comments/opinions. I am glad that others have been bothered by it. Not that most adult males mind scantily clad woman, but on BFT, come-on.

Just so you know, this is not done on purpose. In the last year, BFT advertising revenue has really dropped off from the major advertisers. I know that is hard to believe because of all the ads but to make up for the drop in revenue, the owner started using Google as their main source of advertising. The problem with this is, he does not control the ads that are displayed on the site, Google rotates their ads with out caring who is likely to view them. The good thing is, when members bring this to our attention, the owner can go in a block that ad. I hope this helps explain why this happens. I will bring it to his attention ASAP.

The terrible use of sex is bad enough, but I'm also horribly offended by the nature of this site in general.
It promotes violence, shows pictures of poor bleeding animals, and promotes the needless and wanton torture and destruction of precious little fishes, who have done nothing to deserve such brutal torture and killing. I can't imagine the judgement that will someday be imposed on all those who choose to impale one of God's creatures with a hook.
And to expose innocent little children to this? Absurd! Sex and voilence are destroying us all, and we can't even escape it here on Utah BFT, so I guess the end is near.

I don't see anything wrong with a lady in a swimming suit. They are on the beaches everywhere. I have even been known to wear a two piece [ ]
But I agree with, what the heck has it got to do with fishing?!!!!

[#0000bf]Hey, if you're going to take this guys complaint to the owner about these ad's, how about you tell the owner(s) that I, (among others) love the ad's. I get sick and tired of the vocal few get what they want and the silent majority get walked all over.
I like the ad's, nothing's wrong with them. In fact, I'll bet some of the gal's have children and these ad's help put food on the table.[/#0000bf]

Just because you love the ads doesn't mean that there is nothing wrong with them. I "like" the ads too but I still don't think this is the forum for such advertisements. If you want more of these ads, there are lots of places to go on the internet to find them. You could even go to many places in Utah in warmer weather and find them.
I sure hope the majority is against these ads. What do bikinis have to do with fishing (unless they are battery powered and help keep our women warm when ice fishing)?
Prostitutes, pimps and porn stars all make money and put food on the table doing things that most of us would disagree with. Doesn't make it right.

Dude, Its all about the Benjamins baby!!
MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!!
Like Curt said, Its advertisement! Sorry your offended. I have no problem with it at all. Im not offended by it at all. I dont think its porn, I dont think its smut. Its simply a women wearing a bikini bottom. Your making more of this than what it is.
If you want ot pay to be a part of a G rated sight, Contact the angler and see what he can do. I for one like having this sight at no cost to me. I can deal with it.
I can think of a ton of other things that I would rather not see up there as advertisement.
Becareful what you ask for, You might just get it!!

But they aren't advertising here. Big difference. You don't like them, don't look at them. Simple as that. Practice self control.
But because one person (you), will likely get his way. Congratulations. Gail Ruzika would be proud. You are making democracy safe for all of us.

I see your point but it's apples and oranges. The standard will still be upheld here on the BFT forums but if we want to play than someone has to pay. I think it's rather clever from an advertising perspective "get your fishing business noticed" as stated by fishingpromoter.com (it is fishing related). You noticed the hot A$$ and it's being talked about, I'd say it's working and keeping this site free. In my own opinion I'd say it's rather tame compared to what's on TV, let alone the internet.
Advertisements seem to rotate here and I'm sure it won't be around long. I don't really know what else to say, I'd hate to have to pay for a membership to be a part of BFT.
