Well I am back in Utah without my wyoming cow elk. Never got enough snow to bring them down to my area. But I ended my hunting season well. I ended up with a spike bull elk, 1 doe mule deer in UT. and 2 doe antelope and 2 doe whitetails in Wyoming... I got 46 lbs of pepperoni sticks from the UT. doe, I got salami, jerky & hot italian sausage(smoked), hamburger and steaks made out of the elk, Antelope and deer steaks and with 34 lbs of meat(mixed) being turned into 10 lbs of breakfast sausage and 24 lbs of hot italian sausage. To say the least I have a freezer full and then some. Time to stay home and spend some quality time with my wife after all the fishing and hunting I have done this year...

Sounds like a great season. Good Job on the animals! I'm still trying for my elk this year. Got less than 3 weeks now on the Wasatch Front.

How do white tail compare to mule deer as far as table quality go. I have always wondered if their was a big difference.

Jealous is the word that comes to mind when I think about your freezer full of flavored wild game products....I usually make up a mixed wild game sausage/bratwurst with anything that is not a significant roast or steak from the deer and then combine duck and goose breasts as a filler with pork fat and all the other ingredients that go into a good batch. Its making me hungry for breakfast.....good thing its T-day..

maybe we should have some of us hunters get together and let you cook up a bunch of different game meat. I can bring whitetail, antelope and elk steaks. What do you think???

You name the time and place. I have got deer, usually duck and goose and sometimes pheasants. But if I have to cook everything it might be overwhelming. Maybe a wild game pot luck BFT style. I would do it out on the ice too, preparing "easy foods".(not too sure if your an ice fisherman though.) I would love to try some different styles of cookin. See what everybody else has up their sleeves.

We can wait till the ice comes, I grew up in Minnesota and ice fished alot. I haven't since I have been in UT. Keep this in mind for the future and I will save some steaks of each to cook out there. We can have a BFT picnic on the ice......

Sounds like a plan. Should be a good time!! I will be ice fishing a lot as soon as more lakes that are closer to me freeze up. Until then, have a good one.

Unfortunately, I can't hunt the Soldier Summit area. I have been seeing plenty of elk, just no where that I can hunt. I can hunt on the extended archery areas ( Wasatch Front - Basically SLC, Uintah Basin - Basically the South Slope north of hwy 40, and a small area out by Fairview) Anyways, any info on elk sightings would be great.
And also, the ice fishing potluck sounds fun. Generally speaking, I usually have some wild game, and love ice fishing. So, if you huys end up doing it, I would love to join you guys.
