Columbia River
Summer steelhead are now showing in stronger numbers and anglers from Dibble Beach to Bonneville Dam are catching them. The catch of summer salmon is also holding up best areas are Bonneville Dam to Beacon Rock and Washougal to the 205 bridge.
Sandy River
Still showing glacier melt colors, summers are spread throughout the system. Best areas are the mouth of Cedar Creek, below the Bull Run power house and in the Oxbow area. Some spring salmon are also available and are biting fair to good. Darker colored lures and plugs are recommended.
Klickitat River
This is a real sleeper for king chinook salmon, typically anglers are fishing the summer steelhead run at this time of year. Currently though, large numbers of chinook have taken the stage. The few anglers that have been fishing the lower river have been limiting out on summer steelhead and summer king salmon. Seems no one knows of the opportunity. Salmon running fairly large, 27 to 30 pounds each. Steelhead are running 8 to 10 pounds. The lower 10 miles of river has been best and some really large kings. Note there is only one or two guides who have access to this area of the Klickitat. Only 2 hours up the gorge from Portland or Vancouver.

Still hot for summer steelhead and spring chinook, about 40 percent of the chinook are showing spawning colors. Bank anglers below the deadline at Baker Rock and Mill Creek Bar have been landing steady catches of bright 7 to 10 pound summer steelhead along with an occasional spring salmon. Anglers report lots of steelhead jumping below the dam.
Tillamook
Good morning.... Lots of sunshine and very little rain makes for a pleasant fishing day. Steelhead are being taken in fairly good numbers on the Wilson River considering the low water conditions. A nice, 20# Chinook was taken at the Josey Hole as well yesterday. For the Trask River, the guys are taking chinook lower end. Just a reminder, the Wilson and Trask Rivers will close on July 31st for chinook. A strong coho run is continuing over the bar and we expect a good run of chinook on the Nehalem starting the end of July. Good fishing to you all.

Salmon fishing off Columbia mouth has been good and things are just getting started. Everything points to a fantastic fishery this year at the mouth of the Columbia River. Anglers fishing the ocean out of the ports of Ilwaco, in Washington and Hammond, in Oregon have seen very good fishing and steady action for both chinook and coho salmon. Last week, boat anglers in Marine Area 1 (Ilwaco) averaged 1.7 per rod. The catch was reportedly 95% coho. The chinook that are being caught are large, with some averaging 30 to 45 pounds.
