Final Strawberry trip
#1
I made my final trip to Strawberry for the year and for a long time because I am moving to greener pastures in Colorado.

The trip was well worth it though. Both my brother and I caught some nice bruisers to remember the lake by.

I will definitely miss fishing Strawberry in the fall.

Great pictures. I was just curious if you got the weight on any of those fish? Thanks

Any info where you were fishing and what you were using and could you still launch a boat up there.

I didn't get any official weight, but I would guess that they were each around the 5 lb mark.

We fished in Strawberry bay, most of the fish were cruising around in the shallows. 1 was caught on a cheap crankbait I purchased at sportsman's warehouse that has produced as well as any crank I have used. The other was caught on a jig tipped with a minnow in about 15 feet of water.

We launched a boat, but I would bet that it will be icing over fairly soon. The backs of the bays were iced over and you could see ice crystals forming on the top of the water around the boat. There were also patches of thin ice floating in the middle of some of the bays.

Thanks for the report. Good for you getting those toads before you go. Let us know if Colorado is has amazing fishing.[Smile] I was wondering if you looked over at Mud Creek and how frozen it was, it seems to freeze first. Good report, and that first cutt is a fatty for sure!!

Mud creek looked like it was frozen up to where the boat launch is. But that was over the weekend, so I am sure there is more ice now.

I hope the fishing in Colorado is as good. I have heard a few good reports. Unfortunately for my wife, we are living about 2 minutes from a reservoir. The fishing in Utah has been really good, so I'm hoping Colorado is the same.

Colorado fishing is gonna suck. You have been spoiled and nothing will compare. By the time this reality sets in, you will be forced to quit your job and move back. Trust me, you don't want to leave.

Don't worry, Ill keep sending you pictures of Utah fish to remind you what you are missing out on.

You're probably right bro. Do you want to call my boss and tell him I'm not coming or should I?

I'll look forward to pics of the big boys! Weekend warrior, you'll have to join me and Jacksonman on my orange dream boat one of the weekends I am back in town.

It's the bomb, just ask Jacksonman. So far it has done what I needed it to do, which is not sink.
