Mantua is now frozen and fishable. Just got back from there and there were two guys out fishing it right now. Not sure how thick.

Ice is 4" thick by the boat ramp.
The West side, close to shore is thinner.
I don't know about the East side.
Very slick!!!

Fun to fish with you too DKS!!

Trout were 10" to 14", caught most of them 2' above the bottom. The Perch I caught were right next to the bottom.
Chartreuse hand tied ice flies worked best for me today.

My wife got tickets for the Dirt Band show in Bendover for the weekend.
Looks like it will be a while before I get back on the ice.
Friday should be a great day at Mantua.
By then, you should be able to walk out almost anywhere.

any size to the perch? never fished mantua always wanted to just have always talked myself into somewhere else anyone have any luck catchin bluegills threw the ice there

I'll be there this Saturday. We do catch a few 'gills through the ice. We slayed 'em 2 years ago in one spot with a size 14 green freshwater shrimp pattern fly above a Swedish Pimple.

I have the best luck catching bigger perch just out from the knoll on the east side. You can catch them 12 to 16 inches in certain spots over there. Also the bigger bluegill are over there. You can catch lots of bluegill through the ice with tiny ice flies and a wax worm.
