Flaming Gorge Icefishing Report- 12/19/09
#1
Been warm up here, slowing the ice progression to the south but building on a lot of what's already there. We fished Tuesday night at Sage Creek and had 7-8 inches. Fished it again on Saturday and found 10-11 inches. Fishing was slow both days but we managed 10 lakers and one bow on Tuesday and 9 lakers on Saturday using tube jigs tipped with sucker meat and jigs rigged with Gulp minnows. Most of the lake trout came from 45-55 ft of water near the main channel. Bites were light and active jigging helped. [#ff4040]There's some huge pressure ridges, so watch out if you're using machines to get around. [/#ff4040]

Burbot fishing was really slow both nights and we caught 3 the first, zero the second. We moved around a lot and tried lots of holes from 10-45 ft. Also tried some different habitat ranging from steep rocky shorelines to shallow tapered flats. I know they're out there, but we've had a hard time coercing the burbot through the holes.

Hope it helps, Ryno

Thanks for the update Ryno, it seems to be a lot slower this year for the bots than in years past but the rainbow and smaller mack catching seems about normal. Hopefully we can find some good spots before the bash that have a lot of them that needs to be thinned out.
