Pineview on Jan 2

[#800000]The sun was out, the temps were pleasant, the ice was firm, and I was fishing. Does it get any better than that? [cool][/#800000]

[#800000]My son-in-law and I hit the hard deck at Pineview yesterday. We started off in 35 feet of water and were overloaded immediately with 2” to 3” perch; we couldn’t keep them off. After about 30 minutes of non-stop action from the little bait stealers, I moved out to 45 feet of water and within 5 minutes I had 3 on the ice over 8”.[/#800000]

[#800000]We picked up everything and set up over the deeper water at about 10:00 AM. We stayed until 3:30 PM and iced 21 that were mostly table fare.[/#800000]

[#800000]There were a couple of dinks we had to keep that will be used for bait next rip out.[/#800000]

[#800000]The largest was just over 11” and my son-in-law had the honors. [fishin][/#800000]

[#800000]It looks like it’s going to be a very good year for perch at Pineview this year.[/#800000]

[#800000]There were lots of folks out yesterday and they were fishing at all the usual spots. I did take a run down to the Narrows and there were a few perchlets basking in the sun light down that way. Almost everybody was west of the buoy line and there were snowmobile and ATV tracks on the west side as well. I couldn’t tell for sure how close they were, but there were two people that looked to be within 50 yards of the dam. It would appear that law enforcement hasn’t made “Trespass Violations” (if they really exist for ice fishing) a priority. [shocked][/#800000]

[#800000]That’s the report. Hope you did as well or better if you made it out yesterday. The weather report is looking good for a couple more trips out this coming week. If you have to work, you have my deepest condolences. [Wink][/#800000]

Dang dubob were were up at the View yesterday also. Like you, we did well for some nice size Perchie...had to wade through this and last years Perch models to find the larger ones. But we did just fine. Found the bite for the larger ones to be very soft whereas the lil models it was raty-tat-tat. Had to really watch the spring bobber any slight downward motion was an indication of a larger one most of the time for us.

It was a really great day on the ice. We met up with Packfan and SmokeOnTheWater along with rick_rudder great bunch of guys to share the hard deck with.

Did you happen to see the aero demonstration earlier in the morning???...thought for sure when the pilot went to pull up he was going to stall and put that plane on it's tail in PV.
