Here are a couple of lunkers that really makes you wish for a larger hole in the ice.
one tipped the scale at 7 lb 13 oz and the other at 6 lb 13 oz.
I wish I could tell you what, where, or how...... all I can say is its nice to see the positive side of a slot restriction.

Those are huge! Did you happen to measure them? I am interested to see what length a 7lb 13 oz fish is. Thanks![cool]

I might agree with what you are saying, BUT I really don't think it's your place to judge someone who has done nothing wrong and has every right to keep and do whatever they please with the fish that they catch. I also practice catch and release. So don't think im out to get you or anything, just judge people in your head and not on the board.

Congrats on the huge fish first of all. Bigger than my biggest and two in one day is impressive. My personal beliefs are to let big fish go unless you are going to put them on the wall so I understand Hooters opinion. At the same time I think Strawberry can handle it.
Let me just say though, a 22-24" cutt will taste better and have plenty of meat to eat. Let's let the 24"+ fish go if all possible. 24"+ fish have figured out how to get past the slot (genes, switched to eating fish) and have the best chance to getting huge (10lb+). Just my opinion.
Again great fish and keep your spot and techniques secret (just let em go and send them to my secret spots).[:p]

I too, do alot of catch and release.... but this is a place to share the success and the memories from being out doors. if you dont want to hear that someone caught a nice fish...dont log on.
If the state wants to make a true trophy fishery it would be catch and release only.
Thanks for your support Spoondog.

The bigger fish are meat eaters by nature (regular ice set up tipped with sucker meat). The smaller one had TWO 12 inch trout in its belly, not chubs! so it makes you wonder how many of the 10 inch bows they plant in there are really lunch.

Don't be a hypocrite. I remember a thread where someone in your boat kept a big brown and YOU got a lot of crap. Not a lot of fish go home from Strawberry, I think its going to be OK.

Nice fish! I don't mind sitting on the ice at Strawberry all day getting skunked when it means I have a chance at big cutts like those.

Yes this is true but I also said I personally didn't keep trophy fish!!!!!!!
And I also agree that it is up to each person to make the call on if they keep a trophy fish,
But on the same hand if every one keeps and does not put back it will not stay a trophy fishery
And yes it is also the law that we can keep one over the slot and that is fine,
But if every person keeps JUST one over and everyone sticks one over the slot how many people ice fish and how many people fish it all summer long so I would think
it would be the same as Capt. Jim says about the gorge and the mac.'s won't take long to over fish it as far as the trophies.... that is all I am saying Not trying to tell anyone what to do I just think we need to think about it way before it ever happens, The berry can become a trophy cutt fishery with real monsters 10 15 even 20 ponders if it is managed right by us the fisherman,

Someone keeping a couple big fish doesn't get my knickers in a knot but when I see bozos keeping five or six slot fish, that does. I try to get enough info to call the poaching hotline on 'em. I'm too far over the hill to do much confronting nowadays..

Couple beautiful fish there, way to go. If you have thrown back as many as I have in that lake in the slot, don't blame you for keeping couple of donkeys above the slot.
