I have the fun opportunity to take 4-5 11 year old scouts Ice Fishing on Saturday. I am an experienced Ice Fisherman and know the basics. That said, I am struggling with where I should take these great kids to help them have a great experience.
We are from Davis County and would prefer to stay within 1.5-2 hours from home. Any thoughts? I was considering Pineview, Rockport, and possibly Utah Lake. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

Looks like Pineview is fishing well for small to med. Perch.
Fast action and all you have to do is drop your line to the bottom to catch them.
Easy for some newbies and close to home.

I second that, Pineview fished great last Saturday. I hit it with my to boys and we had fun catching 35ish perch. It will keep the scouts engaged in the activity.

My son and I were at Pinview yesterday. we fished just north of the parking lot at Cemetary point in 25 to 30 feet of water. It seemed like we cought about 10 to 20 dink perch for every one that was big enough to keep. We didn't count what we threw back. We kept 8. The bites were light. We were using the usual lures and perch for bait.

Thanks for the help and advice. I think that we will try PV on Sat morning.
I used to fish up there a lot by hiking in from Browning point to the South. Is this the area you are fishing or are you actually hiking in from Cemetary point? Is Cemetary open to park?
Thanks again!

Cemetary was open when I went Saturday. I parked there and walked down to the ice.

Me and my boys fished cemetery point Sunday. There is parking there. The fishing for dink about 5"-6" perchies was pretty steady if you stay in close, between 10-20' deep. We tried jigs and spoons but the best was a small hook,(no jig or lure) with a wax worm 2-3" above the bottom.
Good luck and have fun with your group,
