Record number of votes cast for Sportsman Choice Awards
#1
New Berlin, Wis. (January 14, 2010) -The voice of the American Sportsman has been heard as viewers logged nearly 25,000 votes during an eight-week period for Sportsman Channel's 2009 Sportsman Choice Awards. Fans narrowed the field from hundreds of eligible shows to just five finalists in nine categories. Finalists will attend Sportsman Channel's annual celebration held during the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show on Wednesday, January 20, at Lagasse's Stadium located inside the Palazzo at the Venetian. Winners will receive a custom-designed crystal award and join the elite club of Sportsman Choice Award winners.

Winners will be crowned in the following categories: Best Hunt Show, Best Shoot Show, Best Fish Show, Best Combination (hunting and fishing) Show, Best Show Host(s), Best Hunt Clip, Best Shoot Clip, Best Fish Clip and Best New Series.

"We are ramping up for what we know will be a great evening of camaraderie, excitement and enjoyment with our program producers and guests during our annual awards celebration," said Sportsman president Willy Burkhardt. "We are very proud of our viewers for making their voices heard during the voting process -the volume of traffic to, and the number of video plays on our website was tremendous. We tapped into this force of passionate fans and the numbers clearly tell the story."

"Based on this year's amazing turnout and feedback for the voting process, we are already in development to ramp up our efforts for the 2010 awards. We are considering adding more prizes for the viewers and developing more ways for them to interact with us and our show producers," said Todd Hansen, Senior Vice President for Sportsman Channel.

Fan turnout in the 2009 voting process was the strongest on record:

More than 30,000 unique visits and over 48,000 page views to www.votesportsman.com
Over a 24-day period, the 15 "Best Clip" videos were viewed nearly 40,000 times
Over 40 percent of voting site visitors were driven by direct traffic or via either the Sportsman Channel home page or related social sites
The network added well over 2,000 friends to our Sportsman Facebook page during the voting period (www.facebook.com/sportsmanchannel)

The primary drivers in this effort were on-air promotional spots, web banners spread over Sportsman Channel parent company InterMedia Outdoors' network of websites, as well as social media initiatives and individual producer campaigns. This is an excellent example of Sportsman Channel's and InterMedia's combined ability to reach and motivate their shared demographic, the American Sportsman.
