Ririe 1-27-10
#1
I got a quick report on ririe to day. Seems like the fishing picked up today i got up there about 9:00 fished tell about 3:30 caught 5 kokanee and 2 - 13" cutthroat. I fished in 70' of water and caught the kokanee about 5' under the ice and the trout at about 40'. Talked to a few other people and it sounded like most got there limit on kokanee. Now If I can just find some perch[:/] I have been using my new vex FL20 and I love it so far It would be hard to go with out it now.

Thanks for the report. I was hoping for some good news from Ririe this week, I was about to give up on it this winter after my last few trips. I just bought a new smoker and I need to perfect my recipe with some fresh Ririe salmon.

That is an encouraging report. Just don't encourage too many people over the next couple of weeks.[laugh]

Use your vex to search a lot of holes for the perch. Use your zoom the perch will blend in with the bottom very well. Watch for a few seconds and you will see their bellys come just barely off of the bottom. You have to be watching carefully because they really hug the bottom.

You can also try banging a swedish pimple on the bottom. Then watch on the vex and see if anything reacts to your banging.
