SUPPORT HB 80!
#1
Well, HB 80 is scheduled to be in front of the House Judiciary Committee at 2 PM on Friday. I plan to be there, can anyone else make it? We need bodies there ready to support the cause!

We also need to contact each of the members of the committee and ask them to 1- support HB 80 as it is a good bill. 2- Even if they don't support HB 80, the work that was put in by Rep Fowlke deserves to have this pushed through to the House floor for a full debate.

Here are some hitting points to hit the committee up with.

-It was an open and fair process
-It strengthens protections for landowners by defining the easement clearly, limits liability for landowners, increases trespassing penalties, and requires the public to be educated on the easement if they are going to use it.
-It benefits the public by defining the easement clearly recognized by the Supreme Court, allows for portage around man-made obstructions in streams
-It also clearly recognizes two competing rights and fairly balances those rights

Here is the list. Please take a few minutes and ask this committee to put this through to the House floor for a full and fair debate. You probably don't have to contact Rep Fowlke to ask her to support her own bill. But you could contact her and thank her for her work. She truly has been great in this process with what she's done. Let them hear from us guys and gals!

Even though the last time i replied to a post about this subject, you got a little "snippy" with me. I just wanted you to know that I appreciate the work you are doing here, and pretty sure every one else does also. I have sent my e-mails. HB141 / BAD....HB-80 / GOOD. Our representatives can't represent us if they don't know how we feel. Most of them want to do a good job representing us-- let's help them.

If I got "snippy", I publicly apologize. I really have tried to keep a level and cool head in all my posts in various places on this subject, even to those who completely disagree with me. I'm sure I have not been perfect in that. I apologize. I assure you no offense of snippiness was intended!

Thanks for your work. Seriously, every email counts. Every phone call counts double. And every face to face visit counts for about 100! We do this stuff as individuals, but collectively we can get this done.

I do sincerely thank anyone who has stepped up and taken any amount of time to help the cause. We have a lot of fighting left to do, but we're making progress. Keep it up!

For those who show up on Friday, what would they be doing? Talking to reps? Just showing up to support the bill? Do you have any more details?

Probably won't have much time to talk to the reps, but might after the hearings. The important this is the more people we have in the committee meetings the more indicative it will be of the support we have on our side.

These types of things make a big difference to the elected officials.
