Mountain Streams
#1
I have a hard time waiting for the snow to melt and usually start hitting mountain streams come March and April. With the warm weather and moderate snow fall this year I thought I'd take the dogs and give it a try a bit earlier. Weather was in the low 40's at about 7000 ft. Fishing was just fair for smaller trout but the scenery and solitude made up for it. Never bothered to take a pic of a fish but here's one of the dogs by the stream. Now I'm thinking of all the other nearby mountain streams I want to hit in the next couple weeks. While I know we need the snow the up side of light snow years are quick runoffs and good early season fishing.

I fish there all winter. See where your dog is sitting? Coincidentaly I pissed on that same spot last week because I wouldn't have made to the outhouse on the parking lot without pissing in my waders...sorry for your dog. Maybe he thought he needed to mark the territory as his. I will be back up there sometime next week to remark my winter fishing grounds! [Wink]

Water has been pretty low in the last month on the creek as well.

It's a pretty easy to recognize spot as you can see it from the reservoir and a good starting off place to hit the river. Water wasn't too low with the warm up but still very clear. Ice is 95% gone. Just don't try to remark your spot with the dog nearby[:p]. She looks like a cute little lab but is half bull terrior and is very protective of my fishing streams. Actually it's kind of nice when people fish too close to me I don't have to say anything, she's makes it very clear you need to to give us some space. Problem is my other dog welcomes every body who who decides to fish 10 feet away despite the whole river being open.
