Think'n this was our last hard deck trip on PV this season.

Arrival temp was 16* departure 34*.

Launch point was via the Stringtown Road. Few bare spots on the trail leading to the ice.

Ice Condition:

Edges are firm and solid from the Stringtown path. Ice has 'no-slush' at all walked on the very top never busting through the entire day. First 6-8" is frozen pretty much solid then as the auger popped through it would drop down 3" to the next previous slush layer. Today for sure it would've been safe for ATVs and I'm think'n tomorrow also (depending on this forecasted storm). Still about 12-14" of solid black ice beneath 8-10" of frozen slush. Ice was singing to us mainly in the mid morning. Saw one snowmobile coming on the ice as we were leaving at a little after 5. I've included pictures of ice shots to give you an idea of the ice.

Fish'n rating was very good.

Started out in deeper water 42-45' in search of Crappie. Only takers were dink Perch and one dink Crappie. Worked the deeper water in hopes of finding them Crappie. Decided to move in to 32-35' and found the nice size Perch. Lures used were Ants tipped with Perch eye/meat. An older gent came on the ice about 3PM and setup about 50' from us and found the Crappie. Only fish visting our offerings and topside were Perch...and the dink Perch were out in force.

Think'n the PV ice will be good for a few more days and it will all depend on what type of storm possibly for tomorrow. Next week with really warm temps predicted this weekend may be the last for PV unless it gets really cold.

Sure hope you all have a great weekend....

I saw the three of you as I drove by on my way home from work but didn't see the neon sign flashing "Come On Down". You looked pretty lonely out there on that big lake. There was a hearty bugger/s on the ice at 4:30am with his tent and lantern, he/they were set up near the caretakers house. The fishing pressure has dropped off SUBSTANTIALLY now that the BANANA BELTERS have yardwork to do. Glad you had a nice day fishing and relaxation while the rest of us worked!

Leave it alone PACKFAN!!!!!!

Hey Smoke if it wasn't for your ice intel we probably wouldn't of made this last trip. Now for the dirty 4-letter word that begins with a W and ends with a K...just think come this Friday you can be rubbing it in.

Packfan be nice as we all have to W**K for a little bit more...some more than others but I know you W**K.

Dubob we miss you and sure hope the physical therapy is going well per our last phone conversation. Be ready for a PV toothy critter trip...can't promise a catch but think'n we'll getcha into one of size...at least we're hoping for all you've done for us and putting up with 2-ole gals who love to fish.

Stringtown road is in Eden...they've built a brand new grade school on the corner. It's a 'T' intersection. Can't miss it just look for the road sign in Eden 'Stringtown'. The road dead ends at the Browning Point pump house access gate.

I know a titch late on the directions but this is a very easy access onto PV and you're not climbing out of the valley of death (aka Narrows for us) with Sherpas and oxygen tanks, just because folklore one believes all the Crappie and Perch are in the Narrows. Them dang fish are all over PV...just need to work it and explore and not kill oneself aka Narrows to find them.

IMHO the Narrows are very over rated and folks who regularly fish PV especially on the hard deck know that but won't post. Leaving one to believe the force field of the Narrows has all the Crappie and Perch captivated with big screen TVs. [Smile][Smile]
