I am going to float the South Fork this Saturday (3-20-10). I want to float the lower canyon section, like Wolf to Hiese. Has anybody been there in the last week or so. I need to know what the snow depth is. I don't want to drive there and have to drag my boat over lots of snow. I would imagine that the Wolf ramp would be the only one not plowed out. Also how has the fishing been. I use mostly streamer and big jigs.

If you put in at Wolf the only concern for me would be mud. The snow situation is not bad at all up there. If you take out at Byington you won't have any problems either. We have fished different areas through that stretch recently with pretty good success. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Are you talking about a really muddy road up there or mud around the put in. I only have a 2 wheel drive truck. If the ramp is muddy that is fine my pontoon is easy to move around on land. The road is what might scare me off. My truck gets stuck just driving by a muddy road.

I think you will be ok going up the road, my concern was the actual ramp at Wolf. I do know a guy that went up there yesterday, Thursday, and put in at Wolf and took out at Byington. He didn't complain about the road or the ramp, and with a pontoon you will be just fine. Good luck, and be careful.

Yesterday was the worst day of catching that I have ever had on the South Fork.

I went out for a few hours yesterday by Conant and by the bridge. I did manage 2 small cutts and a rainbow, but I think it was really slow. I talked to some guys that floated and did not land a fish. I saw many people fishing and did not see any fish caught. Just one of those days or they did something with the flows.
