Fishing the South Fork (of the Snake:)
#1
I'm new to forums and just started my fishing season here in Eastern Idaho! (around Rexburg) I want to go fish the South Fork of the Snake around Swan Valley but I do not know where shore fisherman are allowed to go. I would like to catch me a $$$ rainbow (although highly unlikely) but I need a place to go to. Does anyone know of a good public access in that area for shore fishing? Directions would be great!

If you have your heart set on the Swan Valley area try the Fall Creek road, it's the dirt road just before the bridge that crosses the river. Also just up stream from Swan Valley there is a gas station on the left side called Huskeys. almost directly across the road is a sportsmans access point. You can probably access the most water via the Fall Creek road, but bring waders and be ready to climb a short, steep bank.

Welcome to the forum. The South Fork can be accessed at all of the bridges on foot. This is a good time to wade fish before the water comes up. You can walk for miles below the high water line. I agree that the Heise area is the best to find public access. There are spots along the river road East of Heise that also have good access.
