WHAT: This is the first of two public open houses to discuss the future of our ocean and to learn about the State's ocean mapping and planning efforts, with a focus on offshore renewable energy

WHEN: Monday, April 5, 2010 from 5-8:30 p.m.
WHY: To provide citizens an opportunity to learn about the State's ocean mapping and planning efforts, with a focus on offshore renewable energy. The open houses are designed to allow citizens to ask questions and provide feedback at their own pace. Experts from both agencies and project partners will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about ocean mapping and planning, offshore wind, project timelines, anticipated processes and opportunities for community response

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2009, is the state agency responsible for providing natural and living resource-related services to citizens and visitors. DNR manages more than 449,000 acres of public lands and 17,000 miles of waterways, along with Maryland's forests, fisheries and wildlife for maximum environmental, economic and quality of life benefits. A national leader in land conservation, DNR-managed parks and natural, historic and cultural resources attract 12 million visitors annually.
