COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Third Annual Berkley Big Bass Challenge on the Delta is set for May 22 - 23. The event will be ran out of Russo's Marina, which brings more fun and bigger payouts than ever before.
Bass fishing's version of "Texas Hold Em" matches angling skill with a weigh-in strategy. Each day of competition consists of six one-hour periods, where anglers can weigh-in their single largest fish. Each hour an angler can bring one fish to the scales to try to stay in the running for a chance to receive one of 7 hourly cash awards. Over $40,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded during the two-day event. However, there is one catch to this tournament. Berkley baits are the only baits that will be allowed during the Challenge. Big Bass Winner of each hour will be presented a key that may win a new Toyota Tundra that will be awarded on the final day of competition.
And that's not the best part. The new Toyota Tundra, along with the seven per hour/per day checks, are GUARANTEED to be given away...regardless the size of the field!
"The tournament is a fun format to expose anglers to the full spectrum of Berkley baits", stated Andrew Marks, Marketing Director for Berkley. "It is challenging to not only adjust to some of the new baits that are being used, but also the added strategy of when to weigh in your fish that lends a unique twist".
Anglers that arrive Friday, May 21st, the day before the event at Russo's Marina, will have the opportunity to attend seminars hosted by Berkley pro-staff. The Berkley Experience trailer, a 60 foot -event center, will be on site from Friday until the final weigh-in and awards on Sunday. The trailer features interactive presentation screens, educational seminars on line selection, reel maintenance, rod selection and selecting the right bait, a knot tying station and competition, bait demonstration tanks and many other fun elements designed to help the angers Catch More Fish. Hook, Line & Sinker will have a large selection of Berkley baits to finalize your tackle selections. Save your empty Berkley GULP! and PowerBait bags for the big raffle on Sunday afternoon, where you can win prizes from Berkley, Abu Garcia, Fenwick and other great companies.
The first 150 anglers that register will have an opportunity to win a day on the water with the hottest BASS angler and California's own - Skeet Reese. This special drawing will be held after the final hourly weigh-in on Sunday, May 23rd.
