Yesterday we went on a family drive/picnic/fishing trip to the Sandcreek ponds. I forgot that ponds #3&4 are closed until July 1st. So we ended up fishing #1. We got there a bit late for the good fishing (10:30 AM).
The pond was stocked heavily but their was plenty of food in the pond for the fish to eat. I could not believe how full the fish looked for only being in the lake three weeks or so. We caught 8 rainbows in a couple hours and missed many more.
It should be fun to float tube Sandcreek when it opens on July 15th for watercraft. Judging by the number of leeches I saw in the water it should be pretty easy to find a suitable pattern.
