Do you know where I can get an anti-HB141 shirt?

I am willing to pay whatever it costs.

I would also like to buy one for my state representative and senators, Gage Froerer and Allen Christensen, who both voted in favor of HB 141.

I would lke to wear the shirt on election day, when I vote against both of them with a vengeance.

If you can provide any contact information for acquiring a shirt, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

shadrap

Does any one know if the funds from sale of the shirts is going towards overturning HB141? Is there any organized group trying to modify existing law or introduce a new law. I would be interested in suporting one that is [#000000]serious[/#000000].

ok here is the copy/paste from the originator of these shirts, i have remmoved this persons name:

I am glad that you are getting such a good response, and I am happy to try and help here, but I will need to do some research on how to do it right. The T-Shirt came from an online source, and there are some economics to figure out how to do better. The initial order that you got a piece of was a big rush to try and get them onto delegates to the conventions, and I did not mind paying for that because I am so pissed off about HB 141, but they were expensive (good quality shirt, rush job, worked out to about $30 per shirt with shipping and rush processing). I should be able to do better with more time to shop smarter. One challenge will be that the prices really come down with bigger numbers in an order, but I don't think we should get in the business of ordering a large quantify and having an inventory. I will call the company and see if there is a way that other customers have done this in the past. I also recall that someone made some pretty good points that the shirt might be better phrased as "use" instead of "access" so some revisions may be in order. I will look into it and let you know what I hear. This may be the something I can do to feel a bit better about resisting HB 141, I am still livid about this. I wonder what would happen if I took one some to Cabela's and asked the manager to sell it with proceeds to go to UWG? They probably need to consider where their political bread is buttered and won't do it, but it is an interesting idea. As you can see, I am stewing. Smile Best regards, XXXXXXX

I may be wrong here and if someone can clarify or correct me please do. I believe the "Water Guardians" were a clearing house for information. Their main task was to keep us (the public) informed as to what was going on with the various water access bills as they went through the political process. In a few cases they created rallies to bring our cause to the public and representatives eyes. They did a very good job and made the bill a very public issue.

My concern is in regards to what needs to be done now. HB 141 is fact. The governor, when he signed the bill, stated that he did so reluctantly. Governor Herbert stated the he was committed to working with both sides to come to a "workable solution". I have heard nothing from the Water Guardians, Governor Herbert, or anyone else since.

The fact that I have heard nothing doesn't mean that there isn't something going on "under the radar".

I am not sure what our options are right now. The obvious ones are to repeal/overturn the bill, create a sportsmens iniative, or force Governor Herbert to honor his comments. There may be others that I am overlooking.

I know this is a very long winded diatribe but my concern is that if I am going to spend some time and money on returning our water access, I want to do it with the group that is properly positioned and structured to do so.

As I mentioned earlier I an unaware of any current activity to fight the results of HB141. Is anyone aware of any group that is actively working to return stream access??

Good points Flicker. I wonder if anyone is doing anything now. I think what's needed is a legal fund to fight this law. Does anyone know where the money came from a couple years ago when keeping the public out of the public streams ( Conaster vs. Johnson) was found to be still unconstitional in Utah.

a quick update:

Hello Zak,
I talked to the T-Shirt company, and we can get the cost down to just under $20 per shirt if we order 3 dozen. I am going to try to connect with the UWG sponsor today and see if there is a way to do any of this through the UWG site, and if not, the next step will be to figure out how to make this work on my own. Some sort of distribution system where we don't have to send a lot of individual packages through the mail would be nice, I will think about it. Let me know if you have any ideas.

You decide if the "task force" that Herbert put together is balanced or not.
You have Ben Ferry- (sponsor of last years" kick the crap out of the fisherman bill" HB80, and even though he's out of the race still get's to put his 2ยข in. ), Mel Brown (another hater of fishermen & one of the chairman of the committee) and God's gift to Richfield and the rest of the world Kay L. (guess what that stands for) McIff.
