Michael,

You have a good shot at catching part of the famous salmon fly hatch. If you are good at tying foam patterns then any salmon fly or golden stone patterns with foam will produce well for you. Stimulators always work well as golden stone imitations and are one of my go to patterns on the south fork that time of year. PMD's are also very proliferative during the day if the weather is right. I like indicator parachute patterns so you can see them in the riffles. Basic caddis patterns are effective during isolated hatches, especially in the evening. You should have great fishing on your trip and I hope this info helps you. Tight lines,

Cole

micheal you couldnt pick a better time to be on the south fork there should be some stoneflys going by that time i would definantly bring a good number of goldens as well as the big orange guys. i always run my flys tandem i will do a stonefly and a pmd dropper (that early i like to use pink pmd's but the greens will work good also.) i use that set up all day. i would say it is 50-50 between the two. but i have to say there is something awesome about watching a trout hover underneath a 31/2 inch fly and then explode on it.

take some of all the mentioned dries...but if you really want to pound some fish...stone fly nymphs (rubber legs) and fish within the first 2 ft from the bank---also put at least one small split shot about 12" above your fly or in the middle of two nymphs...these will start working really well in about 2 weeks and continue through mid July. Good luck!![cool]
