We took a drive out to Willow on Saturday. We caught 5 rainbows on mepps spinners fished on the shallow flat by the fishing pier in the evening. I came across the spot where the Whizzle was fishing last week but we didn't manage to hook any over there. I was throwing big spinners and cranks looking for striper too. I didn't see anyone catch any striper while we were there.
We got there a bit later than planned because we made a few stops trying to get a trout stamp. When we got out there the lady at the store told us that JUNE 12th is FREE FISHING DAY so we didn't need it. Its the same day every year but I always forget. I always have a license by then anyway.
I didn't get any pictures of the trout we caught in the evening because I was burnt out by then and didn't want to miss the action by walking back over to the truck. It was a long day without any action so I wasn't willing to miss it when we finally found it. The last rainbow I caught was kind of interesting. When i got him in I noticed that my spinner was about 2' from his mouth. My spinner was snagged in a bunch of 2 lb test that was connected to a wooly bugger hooked in the fishes lip. We released them all. They were nice fights for there size. I'm going to use ultralight tackle for those trout next time.
I did get some photos of a Ram that was hanging out and some of the scenery. You'll just have to take my word on the trout, haha.
